Charleston Executive Airport Car Service
JZI puts you on Johns Island, minutes from the resorts and a real drive from everywhere else. Post the tail number and the drop address once, then compare sealed bids from licensed operators.
A Charleston Executive Airport car service booking lives or dies on two details that have nothing to do with the aircraft: which fixed base operator is handling you, and exactly where on the far side of a gate you're going. JZI is the general aviation field on Johns Island, southwest of the Charleston peninsula, and it exists largely because private traffic bound for the barrier island resorts would rather not fight the commercial airport across town.
That geography is the whole story. From the ramp at JZI you're close to Kiawah and Seabrook, moderately close to downtown, and a long way from the Grand Strand. Riders who understand that ordering book the right vehicle and the right amount of time. Riders who look at a map and assume Charleston is Charleston end up surprised by a drive that takes twice what they budgeted.
Where JZI Sits and Why Crews Choose It
Johns Island is one of the large sea islands southwest of Charleston, a mix of farmland, marsh and residential development with the barrier island resorts beyond it. The airport is a general aviation field with no scheduled airline service, which means no ticket counters, no security queue on departure, and no crowds. Corporate flight departments, charter operators and owner flown aircraft use it, and the traffic swells around golf season and resort weekends.
What crews like about it is straightforward: it keeps them out of the commercial pattern and drops passengers on the correct side of the metro for the islands. What passengers should know is that the convenience ends at the fence. Ground logistics here are yours to arrange, and the roads off this island are not built for a hurry.

Getting Off Johns Island Takes Longer Than the Map Suggests
Straight line distance lies here. Maybank Highway and the connectors feeding it carry nearly all of the island's traffic, and they narrow, they light up at commute hours, and they funnel across a small number of crossings to the mainland. Add a summer weekend with beach traffic layered on top of resident traffic and a twenty minute run becomes forty five without anything going wrong.

Ramp Pickups and FBO Coordination
General aviation meet and greet is a short, quiet version of the commercial ritual. No name board in a crowd, no baggage carousel. The chauffeur stages before your estimated arrival, checks in with the line crew, and sends you a name and vehicle description in advance so you know what's waiting.
Whether that vehicle can come out to the aircraft is not up to the chauffeur. Ramp access rules belong to the airport and the fixed base operator, and they differ by field, by time of day, and sometimes by who's working. Give your operator the FBO name when you post the trip so it can be confirmed rather than assumed. If plane side service matters to you, say it in the request and make the answer part of how you compare bids.
Departures are simpler and still get botched. A private flight has no published cutoff, so people plan from wheels up rather than from the crew's requested show time. Work backward from the show time, use the slow end of the drive ranges above, and remember that the same island roads that were empty when you landed at nine in the morning are not empty at four in the afternoon.
Gated Resorts, Gate Lists and Exact Addresses
This is where most JZI transfers actually go wrong, and it has nothing to do with aviation.
Sizing the Vehicle for Golf Bags and Long Runs
Two kinds of trips dominate this field: golf groups heading to the island courses, and families arriving for a resort week. Both travel heavy, and both routinely undersize the car because the flight felt small.
Running JZI to the Grand Strand
Plenty of private traffic lands at Charleston Executive and heads north, either because the aircraft was already positioned there or because a group is splitting a trip between the islands and the beach. Be clear eyed about what that drive is. Two and a half to three and a quarter hours each way, longer on a summer Saturday, and roughly a full day of a vehicle's availability once the return is counted.
Booked deliberately, it's a comfortable ride and often cheaper per head than the alternatives for a group of six or more. Booked as an afterthought at eleven at night, it's the worst part of the trip. Post the run with your bag count and your drop address and let operators who work this corridor tell you what it costs before you commit to the flight plan.
Let Operators Bid on Your Johns Island Pickup
One request reaches every licensed operator whose fleet fits your aircraft, your group and your destination. Bids are sealed, so nobody prices against a rival's number, and your details stay private until you accept one.
Flying commercial into the metro instead? Charleston International handles that traffic. Heading north for a golf week? Course transportation is priced separately and often shares a vehicle.
